Otaru - What you see here is what it is there. The short canal is the so call picture-some place. I guess people visit there for the history? For me, this is so touristy. Food are extremely expensive. We ended up having our snacks at the convenient stall. Otaru is easily accessible via Train from Sapporo Station. We spent less than 30 mins here and proceed to Yoichi after this.
Yoichi Nikka Distillery Decided to travel from Otaru in less than 1 hour visit and take a train to Yoichi via Train. Our plan is to visit Yoichi Nikka Distillery and have sashimi at one of the fish shop recommended by Google Map. This is truly a unforgettable trip and would recommend anyone traveling to Hokkaido.
The whole compound is European like. They have a gallery where we can view a film about the founder whom is Japanese and married a English wife and how they met, how he went to Scotland to upgrade his distillery skills etc..I fell in love with this place immediately when we step in.
This is a real ongoing distillery. Entry is free and there is a reception where staff dressed smartly. But the whole place is like a resort. So serene. There is a showroom showing how wine is being distilled. I am more attracted to its environment and architecture of the building.
Visited this fish store after our trip. A real treat. Scallop at less than 1000 yen per bowl. Can never get it in my home county. Kakizaki Shouten
Restaurants and food court are located at the 3rd level of New Chitose Airport. If you are like me who loves to try out the local fast food, this is a food heaven for us. I ate udon from Hanamaru. Matsuya is here but only sell mutton. There is also a ramien stall and other stall that is afordable at fast food prices. We have our breakfast cum lunch here. Cause I dare not eat too much food on board SIN-TKY flight to prevent going toilet, thus I ended up really very hungry cause domestic airline do not serve meals on board.
View from Hotel, JR Inn in Asahikawa. Furano - A trip is never complete without visiting the Lavender farm, the padi field. Biei - A visit to the famous Blue Pond and the Shirogane Water fall. Try booking a tour from the tour desk at Asahikawa Station. Though tour is conducted in Japanese, it is better than trying to travel by public transport.
Hokkaido Historical Village - To reach there, we need to first take a train to Sapporo Shin Station. From there we take a bus directly to Hokkaido Historical Village. It is not a long journey. So it is only worth going there if you like to see old building. Most of the buildings were donated. So you can imagine how they move them here. Building from the past being moved here for display A big compound An old Photo Studio Happy to find apple tree here. There are many other buildings to see and you can spend a entire day here. How to get there From Sapporo Station, take a train to Shin Sapporo station - 260yen From Shin Sapporo Station, take a bus to Hokkaido Historical Village - 210 yen.
